Working remotely from a ski chalet in Les 2 Alpes
A ski week doesn't have to mean a week off. With a fast connection and a real desk, you can work in the morning and be on the slopes after lunch, or stay two or three weeks instead of one. We've done it ourselves at Chalet Leslie Alpen 1.
What you need to work from the mountains
- Fast, reliable internet for video calls and large uploads, not a shared hotel Wi-Fi.
- A proper desk, away from the living room where the rest of the group is on holiday.
- Slopes close by, so a two-hour ski session doesn't turn into half a day of driving and parking.
- Somewhere to switch off at the end of the working day.
Working at Chalet Leslie Alpen 1
- Fibre internet (1 Gbit/s). We've worked from the chalet ourselves, video calls included.
- Two places to work: an office nook on the ground floor, and a second desk on the lower level, in the laundry room, away from the living room.
- The Petite Aiguille ski run is 100 m away, so you can be skiing a few minutes after closing the laptop.
- A private sauna, hammam and jacuzzi for the end of the day.
A typical day
Morning calls and focused work while the slopes are at their busiest, skiing in the early afternoon, back for a sauna and dinner around the table for twelve. If you're travelling with family, the children can be in ski school in the mornings while you work, and you can join them on the slopes after lunch.
When to go
- January and March are the best months for working stays: quieter slopes, good snow and easier booking.
- Avoid the peak weeks if you want calm: Christmas and New Year, and the French February school holidays.
- Summer (July and August) works well too: hiking and mountain biking after work, and glacier skiing early in the season.
- The resort is very quiet from late August to November.
Practical tips for a longer stay
- Stays run Saturday to Saturday, and you can book two or three weeks in one go.
- Groceries: there are several supermarkets on the main street.
- The swimming pool in the town centre is open all year.
- Getting here without a car: the TGV from Paris reaches Grenoble in about 3 hours, then it's about 1 h 15 by road to Les 2 Alpes.
- Parking: 2 outdoor spaces at the chalet, plus shared parking on the lane.
